Electricity on-supply in Queensland

The on-supply of electricity involves the owner, occupier or user of a premises buying from a retailer and then supplying and selling it to the occupants of a premises.

On-supply is not heavily regulated. For example, a person who receives the electricity is not viewed as a customer as defined in the Electricity Act and this means that receivers lack access to customer protections and access to the Energy and Water Ombudsman.

By calling for submissions from interested stakeholders, this discussion paper aims to gain a better understanding of the issues surrounding on-supply of electricity in Queensland.
